Call for Candidate Submissions for Judicial Screening for 2024 New York City Civil Court

LGBT Bar NY’s Judiciary Committee (the “Committee”) interviews and evaluates all candidates for judicial office who seek our evaluation. In advance of the June 2024 Primary Election, the Committee will interview candidates for Judge of the New York City Civil Court and for County Surrogate in accordance with its rules. We invite all candidates on the ballot to interview before the Committee.

To be evaluated by the Committee, candidates should forward a completed copy of a recent Uniform Judicial Questionnaire, a questionnaire submitted to a county or district judicial screening panel, or other similar application, including a resume, references, and writing samples even if the application does not require them, via e-mail as one pdf attachment to judiciary@lgbtbarny.org on or before May 10, 2024. The Committee encourages candidates to include information demonstrating their commitment to the equality of rights for all LGBTQ+ persons.

After the Committee receives a candidate’s application materials, a video interview will be scheduled. Presently, we have reserved Monday evenings, between April 15 and June 17th, except for Memorial Day (May 27th), for these interviews, starting at approximately 6pm, and we will schedule additional dates as necessary.
