Legal Clinics
The LGBT Bar Association of New York (LGBT Bar NY) endeavors to provide meaningful legal services through various fee drop-in legal clinics, which offer holistic consultations and referrals to members of the LGBTQ community. Attorney volunteers help with any number of legal issues, including housing, immigration, family law matters, criminal issues, employment, discrimination, and more.
The Clinic operates from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, providing free consultations to LGBT New Yorkers. Please arrive between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m. for intake.

Who runs the legal clinic?
- The LGBT Bar NY Foundation is pleased to provide a pro bono legal clinic devoted to serving the LGBTQ community of NYC.
What kind of help is offered?
- The clinic is staffed by volunteer attorneys who are available to provide general guidance and legal referrals, but not legal representation. Each visitor can expect to have a 15-20-minute consultation with our volunteer attorneys.
Do I need an appointment?
- No appointment is necessary, but you should arrive prior to 5:45 p.m. to ensure that you can be seen.
